Reusing heat by David Flint

Housing:Kingston Heights, a new block of 137 flats in Kingston, will avoid emitting 500 tons of CO2 per year by pumping heat from the River Thames to heat the building.

The bad news? Prices start at £250k!

The tube: You know how hot the tube is these days? What a waste!

Well, that may change. An experimental scheme in Islington will draw heat from a Northern Line ventilation shaft and add it to waste heat from the Bunhill power station - which is already providing its spare heat to 900 homes. Project manager Charlotte Large hopes the new scheme will add at least 500 homes to the system.

Very appropriately this is all close to the Green Party national office.
