No Politics in the House! by Bill Linton.

A few weeks ago fellow EGP member Joy Winterbottom and I visited the House of Commons to lobby David Burrowes on behalf of the Palestinians. Our briefing papers were examined by security on the way in - and Joy's were taken away from her on the grounds that political material was banned!! Strangely, mine, though identical, were looked at but not confiscated.

Naturally we protested and requested a superior officer (a sergeant) who confirmed the ban, alleging it emanated from the Serjeant-At-Arms. Eventually and reluctantly he gave Joy back her paperwork "just this once, but don't do it again"!! We raised all this with David Burrowes and he was as horrified as we were. He raised it later as a Point of Order, but was fobbed off as it was a 'security matter'.
