Hoppers Road Accident by David Flint.
At 6 am on Saturday 15th December Hoppers Road residents living
near the Dog and Duck were woken by a loud bang. The photo
shows what they saw when they looked outside - an inverted car.
It's hard to see how the driving that led to this can be other than
"dangerously irresponsible". Indeed, after 45 years of driving I can't
imagine how I would achieve this result deliberately - should I be
crazy enough to want my car turned upside down.
Apart from turning itself upside down the car had wrecked one
parked car and damaged another. The driver and passenger
sustained minor injuries.
According to local resident Keith McAleese "My car was missed by
about a foot. So lucky me! This is clear evidence that Hoppers Road
needs a 20 mph speed limit.... I have young children and do not
feel it is safe for them to walk the streets with this type of driving
going on. The Council must take action before someone gets
