In today's society, too much is wasted, from the mountains of pointless packaging to the misuse of agricultural resources, while we fail to invest in the human potential that is our future. As an example, see this photo montage of the life cycle of a plastic bottle.
At the centre of Green Party policies is the need to conserve all our resources, to create a society in which all of us can thrive.
One of the current big local issues is the (now defunct) proposal for a new waste plant at Pinkham Way, which Enfield Green Party opposed. Although the North London Waste Plan of which it was a part has now been withdrawn, there remain fears that the site will be used for some major waste project which will revive some or all of the previous local fears of air pollution, the likely smell and the increase in traffic on an already over-used stretch of the North Circular.
